How your tools become stronger the more you use them.

There is no enchanting table in Tamriel. Instead, the tool in your hand improves gradually through the work you give it.

Tools gain levels

The first time you use a tool, weapon, bow or piece of armour, a level appears beneath its name. It then accumulates experience whenever you break blocks, strike enemies or absorb damage on armour. Ore is the most valuable material of all.

Two improvements exist

Each requires a tool of level 3, and each can be applied only once.

How to craft a token

Each improvement is bought with a token you craft at a workbench.

Tempered — four iron ingots and four bottles o' enchanting around one obsidian:

Lightbringer — four blaze rods around a wither skeleton skull:

Each recipe makes one token. Hold it, then click the tool in an anvil to apply it.
